CERTIFICATED STAFF
A full time certificated staff receives 10 days (70 hours) of sick leave per year. (Prorated for less than full time) Sick Leave would be used for your own illness or medical appointments.
Of the 10 days allotted per year, 7 of them can be used for Personal Necessity (PN). PN is used for your child's illness, your spouse dr appt, a lawyer appt, personal business meeting-events that cannot be scheduled outside of your work for personal life happenstance. PN days will need to be explained to administration for approval.
Of the 10 days allotted per year, 7 of them can be used for Personal Necessity (PN) out of those 7 days, 2 of them may be used as PN "No Tell". You need prior approval for NT and cannot be used for participating in Association activities and /or in activities related to converted activities and work stoppages per contract agreement.
You do not "loose" PN or NT days if you do not use them in a school year as they are an allowed designation of your annual sick leave.
Accumulated sick leave hours upon retirement will be converted into service credit through CalSTRS.
CLASSIFIED
